The wire parts of the string lights are fully sealed, thus making it submersible, but the battery case is only IP 44 waterproof, so it can meet normal use outside but not enough to put under water directly. With low voltage no overheat after many hours of usage, safe to touch after any hours of usage.

Lights worked wonders. Shone bright for roughly two and a half weeks on a single set of batteries. Perfect timing for holiday decor. Continued to glow beyond that, though dimmer.
